Ailerons

Continued with aileron drilling Having received feedback from Caleb at ZAC, I pressed on and drilled and clecoed the rest of the left aileron. He informed me they have changed the design slightly since my plans were printed, so the tip ribs no longer have that 45 degree cut on the flanges. However, his advice was just stick to minimum edge distance and even spacing for the number of required rivets.

I had a problem of vertical mis-alignment when fitting the tip rib. The guides tell you to drill the front flange first then the top and bottom, but with the awkward splayed end of the tip rib, I found it difficult to line up. I made another rib, then drilled the first top and bottom holes through the skin. This ensured correct vertical alignment, so I could then continue in the recommended sequence.

Will move on to the other aileron next.
