After three more attempts and experiments I finally arrived at one I was happy with. One of the problems I had was the plans are a bit vague describing where the taper from the flange to the rounded nose actually starts. If you have it too close to the nose or a gentle curve, it leaves too much material making it impossible to work. I’m quite pleased with the final item.
